The 1.5 m3 balloon-type biogas digester is designed to recycle and utilize the waste of the Native Piggery Project of SANRI situated at the University of Rizal System, Tanay Campus. The balloon-type biogas digester is composed of the following components: inlet and outlet tanks, biogas tank assembly and concrete frame. The inlet and outlet tank is made of 300 L plastic container. It is cut into two, the first half is 170 L for the inlet tank, and the second half is 130 L for the outlet tank. It has a dimension of 2.38 m x 1.5 m x 0.5 m, length width and height respectively. The red mud plastic that served as biogas tanks has a dimension of 0.5 m x 2 m, radius and length respectively. The biogas lamps with 60-watt rating stayed lit for an average of 3 hours and 38 minutes. Actual biogas produced by the digester using biogas lamps was 0.9801 m3. The investment cost of the balloon-type biogas digester system is Php 13,930. The bill saved in operating the biogas digester is Php 1,452 per year.
