Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study entitled "FAITH BEHIND BARS: ROLE OF RELIGION IN SELF-REGULATION OF INMATES IN TANAY MUNICIPAL JAIL", was conducted with a purpose of determining the role of religion in self-regulation of inmates. There were five (5) selected male inmates who were imprisoned in Tanay Municipal Jail Rizal Province. The study made use of qualitative research design using case study methods. It is designed to reveal a target audiences range of behavior and perceptions that drive it with preferences to specific topics or issues. It utilized a researcher's made structured interview and did not involve measurement of statistics. It is a method of inquiry employed in many different academic disciplines traditionally in social sciences. As the result of the study, it showed that the respondents were able to maintain their strong faith in God by actively attending some church services and having their self-deepening such as reading bible, devotion and sharing word of God. The respondents also showed a high level of exercising self-regulation, they were able to exhibit their personal standard, observed their own behavior and being aware on what people think toward themselves and they also showed a high level of prosocial behavior. Their religion has a significant influence in exercising their self-regulatory function, particularly on its factors such as; self-monitoring, self-judgment and affective self-reaction. As for general recommendations, future researchers may conduct a study about the life of inmates based on the management, difficulties and problems they encountered and their perspective in life. The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Tanay, Rizal must establish a program or activities to practice and enhance their self-regulation. The Religious volunteer officers may strengthen the different practicing program and services catered for the inmates to maintain their faith in God. Mental Health Advocates or Organizations must have at least once a month counseling for the inmates to maintain their mental health and emotioal stability and lastly the Government should improve the facilities inside the management.
