Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the level of anxiety and its relationship to academic performance of guidance and counseling students in University of Rizal System Morong. This was conducted during the school year 2013-2014. The subject of the study were the 120 guidance and counseling students described in terms of age, gender, monthly family income, educational attainment of parents, religion, year level and parents marital status. A questionnaire checklist on the level of anxiety and its relationship to the academic performance of guidance and counseling students in University of Rizal System was used as the main instrument in gathering needed data. For the analysis of the gathered data, the following statistical treatments were used. To determine the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, monthly family income, educational attainment of the parents, religion, year level, and parents marital status, frequency percentage and rank distribution were used. To determine the level of anxiety of the guidance counseling students with respect to mild anxiety, severe anxiety and panic anxiety, mean was used. To determine the academic performance of guidance and counseling students with respect to recitation and participation, examination, research and submission of projects and requirements, mean was used. To find the significant relationship the level of anxiety and academic performance of guidance and counselling students Pearson-r was used. The result reveals that the most of the guidance and counselling students belong to the ages 18 and below, 76.6 percent are females. In terms of monthly family income, majority of the 120 respondents, 2402 percent are belong to the bracket of 9,000-10,999. In terms of educational attainment of parents 33.3 percent of the respondent's father belong to high school graduate and 36.7 parents of the respondent's mother belong to high school graduate. In term of religion, 74.7 percent belongs to the catholic. In terms of the year level, 41.7 belong to first year. In terms of parent's marital status, 52.5 percent were married. On the other hand, on the extent of the levels of anxiety with respect to mild anxiety, moderate anxiety, sever anxiety, and panic anxiety obtained a mean of 2.75 and verbally interpreted a "Moderate". On the academic performance with respect to recitation and participation, examination, research and submission of project obtained a mean of 3.09 and verbally interpreted as "Satisfactory". On the level of anxiety and its relationship to the academic performance of the guidance and counselling students, the study found out that there is significant relationship between the level of anxiety and academic performance in terms of recitation and participation, examination, research and submission of project and requirements because the hypothesis fails to accept on a significant of 0.00 level of significant having a probability level of 0.447, 0.425 and 0.345 respectively. And there is no significant relationship between the level of anxiety and academic performance in terms of research because the null hypothesis fails to reject on a significant 0.15 level of significance having a probability level of 0.133. Based from the summary of findings, these conclusion are drawn and formulated that the level of anxiety has a significant relationship to academic performance in terms of recitation and participation, examination, research and submission of project and requirements and has no significant relationship to academic performance in terms research. Derived from the findings and conclusion the following recommendations are hereby offered. Provide more programs and activities to address the anxiety of the students. Integration of stress management and how to handle depression in the discussion of the related subjects are recommended. Further studies may be considered using other variables.
