Summary, etc | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: A flood results when a stream runs out of its confines and submerges surrounding areas due to heavy rain or poor drainage system. Heavy rainfall on low-lying areas causes flooding. Without proper drainage, the rainwater will provide serious problems in forms of unpleasant odor, insects and health hazards. Flood also gives real inconvenience to the nearby residents and schools. Providing a suitable flood control system will be a good solution to the problems. Generally, the project study aims to propose a design cistern located at the University of Rizal System Morong campus to minimize the flooding in Barangay San Juan Sumulong St. Morong, Rizal. Specifically, the project aims to propose a design of cistern that is adequate to support the sakayen creek preventing it from overflowing. In the designing of cistern, the architectural plan was included. To provide the architectural and structural plan, the researchers gathered the needed information. The design of the cistern has a definite objective, it is to prevent possible damages caused by the overflowing of the sakayen creek. A properly designed flood control system prevents possible build-up of water forces. Also, it prevent6s soil from washing through the face. An inlet pipe is connected to the creek and serves as a pathway of water towards the design cistern. In the study, the importance of the project study was discussed thoroughly. To the residents near the vicinity as well as the local government, students studying in schools near sakayen creek specially the University of Rizal System-Morong. The construction of the cistern will be a great help to prevent such inconvenience. |
