520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This research study aimed to Utilized Pineapple Leaves as Alternative Board. Specifically, this study attempted to fabricate alternative board out of pineapple leaves, perform try-out and revision and evaluate the acceptability of pineapple leaves board in terms of appearance, usefulness, economical aspect, environmental aspect. Moreover, this study investigated the significant difference between the pineapple leaves and existing ply board in terms of the mentioned criteria on the evaluations made by the group of respondents. It was conducted at University of Rizal System, Morong Campus during A.Y 2015-2016. The evaluators of the project consisted of two (2) groups. They were the Civil Technology students and expert in the field. The developed pineapple leaves board was evaluated by the fifteen (15) civil technology students and construction worker and five (5) CIT professors in terms of appearance, usefulness, economical aspect, and environmental aspect. Based on the summary of findings the researchers found out that the pineapple leaves board as a whole achieve its acceptability in appearance, usefulness, economical aspect and environmental aspect. As evaluated by the civil technology students, construction workers, and CIT professors, was verbally interpreted as very much accepted based from result. Try-out and revisions were also done by the researchers during the fabrication period of the pineapples leaves board. They found out that if pure white glue was used, the board became too soft, after the defects were found out the researcher mixed wood glue into the white glue. The other defect is the void spaces made by the pineapple leaves and revised by cutting the pineapple leaves into pieces. The acceptability of the product in terms of appearance, usefulness, economical aspect, and environmental aspect all of the criteria got the verbal interpretation of "Very much accepted". The study found out that there is significant difference between the Pineapple Leaves Board and existing plyboard in terms of appearance, usefulness, economical aspect, and environmental aspect on the evaluation made by the group of respondents. The strength and limitation of the Pineapple Leaves Board and existing plyboard in terms of water resistance test and screw withdrawal test. In water resistance test, the study found out that the Pineapple Leaves Board and existing plyboard cannot be used as external wall. In screw withdrawal test, the study found out that the both boards can hold screw with different weight. The significant difference between Pineapple Leaves board and existing plyboard in terms of water resistance test and screw withdrawal test. The study found out that the Pineapple Leaves Board and existing plyboard has no significant difference therefore it is accepted. Based on the results of findings and conclusions, it is recommended to use compressor and heater to lessen the curly pineapple leaves to lessen the void spaces. Marketability of the developed product should be studied further. Further study should be undertaken focusing on the other binding substances to attain maximum efficiency of the product. Follow up of the study on the experimentation of other binding substance should be conducted.
