Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study developed Gelatin lens as alternative material in teaching refraction to determine the angle of refraction in terms of 20⁰, 40⁰, and 60⁰ angle of incidence, and the focal length in terms of 1 inch, 2 inches, and 3 inches. The stud also determined its acceptability in terms of its potential in refraction of light, converging and diverging of light, focal length and total internal reflection. It was conducted in selected Schools in the municipality of Angono, Binangonan, Cardona and Morong 2016-2017. The science teachers engaged in teaching Optics served as the respondents. The twenty (20) items validated researchers-made questionnaire checklist was utilized to determine the level of acceptability of the developed gelatin lenses. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to determine the level of acceptability of gelatin as potential alternative material in teaching refraction. The researchers found out that the potential of developed Gelatin Lens in angle of refraction in terms of 20⁰, 40⁰, and 60⁰ angle of incidence are 13⁰, 22⁰, and 32⁰ respectively. With respect to the Focal Length in terms 1 inch, 2 inches, and 3 inches distance are 2.9 inches, 2.8 inches, and 2.85 inches respectively. It was found out also that the level of acceptability of the developed Gelatin lens in terms of refraction of light, converging and diverging of light, focal length and total internal reflection are rated Highly Acceptable. Based on the summary of findings, the formulated conclusions were the Gelatin can be developed into lens being transparent like glass that serve as medium to light to pass through. The angle pf Refraction formed by the Gelatin lens is smaller than the Angle of Incidence. The focal length did not change as the distance increase which is similar to the Commercially-Available lens. The following recommendations were formulated such as to conduct effectiveness of the prepared Gelatin lens using students as respondents and to conduct parallel study using other variable such as index of refraction and formulation of Gelatin Lens.
