Summary, etc. This study aimed to determine and evaluate the problems encountered in teaching mathematics using spiral approach curriculum in Secondary schools in Barangay Sampaloc Tanay, Rizal, for the school year 2016-2017. The descriptive method of research was used in the study using the Questionnaire-Checklist as instrument in gathering data. The respondents of the study were the secondary Mathematics teachers in all private and public schools in Barangay Sampaloc Tanay, Rizal. Frequency, percentage, rank distribution, and mean were applied as statistical treatments to determine and evaluate the problems encountered in teaching mathematics using spiral approach curriculum. The salient findings of the study were as follows: the profile of the respondents in terms of age reveals that majority of the teachers belong to the bracket 23-27 and 38-42. In terms of sex, most of them are female, majority taught 1-5 years, most of them graduated with the course Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, most of them are Teacher I, majority attended seminars in Division level, and most of them are teaching in public schools. In the extent of the problems encountered, respondents revealed that teachers encountered problems in Instructional materials, teaching strategies, physical facilities and evaluation tools in teaching mathematics using spiral approach curriculum. As to the extent of the problems in teaching mathematics using spiral approach curriculum when grouped according to profile, it was revealed that regardless of their age, sex, length of service, Educational Attainment, Position Title, Seminars Attended and types of schools they encountered much problems in evaluation tools. Based on the conclusions the following recommendations are offered. School must restructure the curriculum to set a more concrete and imaginable curriculum that is applicable to all Filipino students. Schools must conduct review and revision for the curriculum. Teachers must motivate students in cooperative problem solving. School must provide technology resources convenient for the teachers in preparing lessons and activity. School must provide electronic-based materials like DLP, computer, television, et cetera Teachers must enhance and evaluate their scoring rubrics.
