Dissertation note: Thesis BSF University of Rizal System. Cardona 2017 Summary: This study was conducted to know the economic analysis of tilapia fish cage farming in island barangay of Binangonan and Cardona, Rizal, Philippines. Descriptive method was employed through the aid of questionnaire checklist validated by the expert, interview and survey to determine the economic analysis of tilapia fish cage farming. Snowball sampling was used in the selection of seventy six (76) respondent in both municipalities. Respondent in Binangonan have total of forty nine (49) operators and in Cardona twenty seven (27) operators. Frequency, percentage, and rank distribution, weighted mean and F-value analysis of variance were applied in the data analysis. Weighted mean was calculated to identify the extent of the problems encountered by the respondent. Most of the respondents were forty one (41) years of age and above and had educational attainment of high school. Sole proprietorship was preferred by operators. Majority of the respondents in both municipality were registered in Barangay but some operator failed to register because their fish cages were mostly small in size. In the years of operation 5-10 years were engaged in tilapia cage farming. The number of cages that were mostly cultivated of tilapia were below five (5) cages as their source of income. However, they monitor efficiently in order to have a good quality of harvest. The cage was operated on both municipalities was with of 1m -1.5m of depth or the distance from the top net to the surface if its bottom. The tilapia species or serve as stocks used by the operators was about forty (40) and above pieces in every square meter (m2) and the percentage of survival of stock were 61-80% in Binangonan and 81-100% in Cardona. The survival stocks were depending on the quality of the water. According to southeast Aquaponics and fish hatchery, LCC that tilapia can grow and can be hatched within eight (8) months but the result of the research was within one (1) year and the harvest per cropping was 100kg-500kg because of the various problems that affects the production of the cage operators. Majority of the respondents were buyers of the fingerlings in some island mostly in Kalinawan and Pipintan. The respondents owned their capital and did not avail of any loan. Binangonan and Cardona cage were engaged mostly with capital of Php.50,000 and bellow, as the cage increased, the capital increase. Operational investment or the money that has been used in order to provide good quality of production with an average of Php.5,001-Php.10,000 and concluded that procurement of fingerlings, feeds security, labor in harvesting and cleaning of the cage. After one year of culturing of tilapia and it was ready for harvest and can be sold in the market. The gross revenue in both municipality has an average of Php.10,001-Php. 20,00 per cage including the cost of operational expenses. The expenses net cash income for all operators were positive with Php. 10,001- Php.15,000, that proved that raising tilapia cage was profitable: island barangay of the three major problem identified by cage operators in Binangonan and Cardona were, typhoon, unfavorable water condition and slow fish growth that caused poor performance in the cage. Based on the result the tilapia fish cages were profitable in both municipalities of Binangonan and Cardona even if they have problems encountered that affected their production.
