Descriptive Research Methodology

This study is about the market chain of Leioptherapon plumbeus (ayungin) in Cardona, Rizal. It includes the different market intermediaries and market flow of Ayungin. The study investigated the market chain of ayungin on the catch of fishermen in five island Barangay of Cardona, Rizal composed of Subay, Navotas, Boor, Malanggam and Lambac and three Mailand Barangay of Cardona, Rizal composed of Looc, Dalig, and Balso covering fifty (50)fishermen as respondents and twenty six (26) respondent traders. The gathering of data stared December 27, 2016 until March 20, 2017 provided in depth approach to the research questions. This study used descriptive method of research through survey. The researcher personally interviewed the respondents in the island and Mainland barangay and also different municipal public market. The result show the majority of Ayungin fishermen respondent catch Ayungin for 21-30 years using gill net with catch volume of 1-20kg. The usual type of buyer they had are costumers. The selling price for consumer was Php.41.00-Php.80.00 while to processor was Php.40.00 and bellow. Most of the ayungin was sold in the town where the fishermen are living. Majority the trader's respondent was retailer of fresh Ayungin wherein they sell it to the consumers. Ayungin fishermen using prohibited fishing gear (sakay/push net) were the one that gets higher income per day of fishing. It gives negative impact to the small scale fishermen because the volume of their catch become low. The most usual market chain of Ayungin was fishermen to consumer.
