Cardona 2018 Summary: The study was conducted to determine the potential of Achiote (Bixa Orellana) seed extract as alternative histological staining solution for plant tissue. The researchers also aim to produce an organic staining solution for plant tissue. The researchers used achiote seed because the seed has two carotenoid substances called bixin and norbixin that are responsible for its distinct color and also carotenoids chemical compound that produces the orange pigment substances work in the same way as dye. The study was conducted last August of Semester Year, 2018-2019. The researchers choose Medical technologists', High School Biology teachers, and Biology professors as respondents that were selected through cluster sampling technique. Researchers used this sampling technique to divide the population into smaller groups. This was based on their attributes and characteristics. The researchers made an experimental and descriptive method in determining the potential of Achiote (Bixa Orellana) seed as alternative histological staining solution for plant tissue. The study was limited only for plant tissue where the staining solution or dye was used. Weighted mean and independent t-test was used on the formulated problems. The study found out that the Archiote seed extract has a potential in terms of physical appearance, color; stainability and acceptability of dye as alternative histological staining solution and it was acceptable with respect to three groups of respondents, The Medical Technologists, High School Biology Teachers and Biology Professors who are selective respondents were strongly agree based on the observation of specimen under the microscope.
