Cardona 2018 Summary: The study aims to determine the level of awareness of respondents on the municipal ordinance on stray dogs in terms of implementation as well as culture and practices of dog owners related to stray dog. It is expected that the result of the study will provide knowledge on ethical and humane treatment of dogs. The data was obtained through a survey using a questionnaire/checklist that covers five barangays in the municipality of Binangonan, Rizal. On the perception of the respondents regarding implementation of the ordinance, the highest mean rating is 2.83 with verbal interpretation of Neither Agree or Disagree and the lowest of 2.08 with verbal interpretation of Disagree. On the culture of the community related to stray dogs, the highest mean rating of 4.22 with verbal interpretation of Strongly Agree and lowest mean rating of 1.87 with verbal interpretation of Disagree were obtained. Regarding the data on the practices related to stray dogs, the highest mean rating obtained is 4.11 with verbal interpretation of Agree and the lowest mean rating of 1.99 with verbal interpretation of Disagree were obtained. Test for significance of the perception including analysis of variance revealed no significant difference on the perceptions in all barangays. Notable items in the result were non-implementation of the ordinance; dogs not being subjected to rabies vaccination; lack of awareness on handling dog bites; dog being kept on leash; and lack of good human-animal relationship among others.
