Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. Most of these disasters causes an emergency evacuation. Classrooms and gymnasium have always been used as evacuation centers but these structures were not made for evacuation purposes. A structure meant for emergency evacuation which is essential for an effective disaster risk reduction management. The research study entitled "Proposed Three Storey Evacuation Center Building in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay Rizal" will provide data and design specifically in Taytay, Rizal. This will be carried out during the second semester of school year 2014-2015 and will carry on until first semester of school year 2015-2016. Gathering of data through background research and site observation on the said area. The researchers will also seek data from the municipal engineering office. These data will then be analyzed and evaluated and will be the basis for the design. The input of this study to the technical aspect, should require of the ideas from location, gathering of data or information on related literature and studies through resources, value of the constant factor of safety, foundation analysis and the human and natural resources. Human resources pertain to the researcher's adviser, critic reader, statistician and other consultant. The process of this study involves planning, load determination structural analysis, design calculation and cost estimate. The output of this study refers to the preparedness, mitigation and prevention that involves readiness to take appropriate action; accumulation of essential commodities, minimize the impact; distribution of vaccine and medicine to spread of disease and prevent occurrence of disastrous situation. The relief and recovery of this study involves recovery from emergencies by providing for the rapid and orderly start of restoration and rehabilitation of persons and properly affected by emergencies. The researchers concluded that this research is appropriate to urbans with geographical location near potent to a flood risk. And this lessen the vulnerability and damages cause by the calamity of other disaster. And help people to assist the where to go in case of disaster. The architectural lay-out and structural design for an evacuation center which is specifically located in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay Rizal has been provided giving significant consideration to safety and comfort of evacuees. It has provided amenities and needed for disaster period that is not available at classrooms and gymnasium as an evacuation center. The advance method and technique in constructing, computing, estimating and designing. Modify the structural and architectural layout by adding amenities and storage facilities. Propose a development of independent water supply using rainwater harvesting system.
