Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop a Thermal Energy Harvesting Device to generate 5V energy with the use of TEG module to charge up devices such as android phones and other 5V devices. Thermal Energy Harvesting Device uses hot and cold temperatures as the energy source that will feed up the internal battery so that even if there is no power source the device can be used to charge up a 5V devices. The study was conducted at the University of Rizal System, Morong Campus during the academic year 2016-2017. The device was evaluated by using a standardized questionnaire-checklist in determining students and experts apprehensions about the acceptability of the developed output. The respondents consist of 10 individuals who were selected purposively inside and out the University in accordance with their expertise in the project. Some of the respondents are non-experts such as students and selected people in the community and most of the respondents are experts who has an extensive knowledge on the device. A questionnaire-checklist was used to gather the needed data to find out if it is acceptable to the users. The study used descriptive developmental method in utilizing the researchers made questionnaire-checklist. The researchers used weighted mean formula to properly understand and compute the level of acceptability for accuracy, applicability, user-friendliness, environmental-friendliness, safety and maintenance and portability of Thermal Energy Harvesting Device. On the evaluation that the researchers made through questionnaire-checklist the level of acceptability and performance of the project is very much accepted considering the project's accuracy, applicability, user-friendliness, safety and maintenance, environmental-friendliness and portability. The Thermal Energy Harvesting Device was rated Very Much Accepted as perceived by the respondents obtaining the following rankings: applicability ranked first with a 4.84 average mean, and safety and maintenance and Environmental-Friendliness with a 4.72 average mean. Generally, the weighted mean of the above criterion was computed to be 4.72 which also have a verbal interpretation as Very Much Accepted. The study revealed that the Thermal Energy Harvesting Device has been proven producing enough voltage to power-up 5 volts devices. The Thermal Energy Harvesting Device with the use of heat (hot) energy source was proven producing higher current than using head (cold) energy source. The device was Very Much Accepted in terms of accuracy, applicability, portability, environmental-friendliness, user-friendliness and safety and maintenance. Based on the results of the study, the researchers recommended to develop a device that can produce higher current and voltage output, can carry heavier load, more portable, with adjustable output voltage and has system that will automatically changes its polarity with the use of temperature sensor. It is recommended to adopt and conduct a further research for the modification of the output for its improvement.
