Thesis Bachelor of Technology major in Electrical Technology University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to develop an Automatic Electric Power Emergency Breakdown System for Calamities. It was conducted at the University of Rizal System, Morong during School Year 2017-2018. The device could be used for signaling by alarm to prevent further damages in case of calamities. It has the capability to automatically shut down electric power supply. It is suitable for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. The automatic electric power emergency breakdown system for calamities was tested for operation where troubles are observed and revised. Through try-out and revisions made, the project reached the functional output and attained the project objectives. There were thirty (30) respondents of the study, ten (10) experts and twenty (20) personnel from disaster relief and rescue unit, school, and local government unit. They evaluated the acceptability of the device in terms of technical viability, applicability, functionality and safety and maintenance. The data gathered in the study were statistically treated using qualitative description, weighted mean and t-test. On the acceptability of the developed device in terms of technical viability, applicability, functionality, and safety and maintenance, it obtained a general weighted mean of 4.79 from the end-users with verbal interpretation of extremely accepted and 4.53 from the experts with a verbal interpretation of extremely accepted. On the level of performance of the developed automatic electric power emergency breakdown system for calamities with respect to response time of the ultrasonic sensor, smoke detector and shake switch, it got a weighted mean of 5, 4.7 and 5m respectively and verbally interpreted as extremely effective. And with respect to sensitivity of the ultrasonic sensor, smoke detector and shake switch got an identical weighted mean of 5 and verbally interpreted as extremely effective. It was concluded that the developed automatic electric power emergency breakdown system for calamities is extremely accepted as perceived by the experts and end-user and it is extremely effective with respect to response time and sensitivity. Based on the findings and conclusions, the recommendations were hereby offered. Further study should be made focusing on other features of the device. The three main sensor should be protected from water, shock and heat; the national disaster risk reduction and management council (NDRRMC) should support the students to produce and developed device for disaster preparedness. The institution should support the researchers to develop device for better output. Add moisture sensor to turn off in case power resumes whenever moist is still present. The device should be enclosed in the standard panel board.
