Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Technology major in Hotel and Restaurant Management University of Rizal System-Morong. 2017 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to find out the factors affecting the decrease of enrolment in bachelor of technology major in hotel and restaurant management. The study selected eighty four (84) respondents from the bachelor of technology major in hotel and restaurant management for the school year 2016-2017 distinguished the factors that affect the decrease of enrolment in bachelor of technology major in hotel and restaurant management. The respondents were selected through the random sampling by answering a researcher-made questionnaire checklist. The conditions ascertained in this study were the factor affecting the decrease of enrolment in bachelor of technology major in hotel and restaurant management in terms of family problem, facilities/laboratory, tools and equipment, students, instructors, financial problems, skills acquired and work. The study used descriptive type of research utilizing researchers-made questionnaire checklist and interview in the selected respondents to gather the needed data. Statistical tools such as weighted mean and one-way (ANOVA) were used to interpret the result of the study. Responses were tallied, tabulated and interpreted. From the analysis and interpretation of data, the following of age, the age range 19-21 obtained the highest frequency of 63, which in 75 percent of the total respondents and the age of 22-above got the lowest frequency of 7 and 8 percent of the group. In terms of sex, there are sixty (60) female respondents which is 71 percent of the total number of respondents while twenty-four (24) are male respondents are male respondents 29 percent of the 84 respondents. In terms of sibling position, thirty-four (34) were oldest and 40 percent of eighty-four (84) respondents. There were thirty (30) respondents in the middle position and twenty (20) respondents who were the youngest and twenty-four (24) percent of the group. In terms of Monthly income, thirty six (36) respondents had monthly family income range from Php 5,000-Php 9,000 were 43 percent of the income range from Php 20,000 - above which is 15 percent of the total number of respondents. The extent of factors affecting the Decrease of Enrolment in Bachelor of Technology major in Hotel and Restaurant Management by the respondents showed that with respect to family income, facilities/laboratory, tools and equipment, students, instructors, financial problem, skills acquired and work aspect, the average of weighted mean of the family problem is 1.6 which is verbally interpreted as not at all. But facilities/laboratory, tools and equipment, student, instructors, financial problem, 1.7, 1.7, 2.2, 2.1, 1.8 interpreted as fairly serious. The significant difference on the extent of factors affecting the decrease of enrolment in Bachelor of Technology major in Hotel and Restaurant Management with respect to above, mentioned variables showed that in terms of Age, Sex, Sibling Position and Family Income the null hypothesis may accepted. On the basis of findings the following conclusions were drawn; the selected factors moderately affects the enrolment rate of the bachelor of technology major in hotel and restaurant management as based on the tabulated results on the perception of the eighty four respondents; and there is no significant difference on the extent of the factors that affects the decrease in enrolment of the Bachelor of Technology students majoring in hotel and restaurant management. Based from the conclusions, the following recommendations that the school administration should address the factors considered in this study so that the students were encouraged to pursue the degree on hotel and restaurant management course, equip the students with needed knowledge and inform the high employability potential of the course, so that they can develop eagerness in pursue their study and to conduct a follow up study using other variables.
