Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Technology major in Mechanical and Production Technology University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study was conducted at University of Rizal System during SY 2017-2018. It aimed to designed, construct and evaluated the acceptability of radial arm saw in terms of functionality, usefulness, safety and maintenance and durability of the unit. The researchers utilized a research made questionnaire checklist to determine the level of acceptability of the improvised radial arm saw. The results were tallied and computed for analysis. They were twenty (20) respondents of the study, fifteen (15) end-users who are students taking up Mechanical Technology courses and five (5) experts who are professors and instructors of the University who have knowledge and skills in the design and construction of the Improvised Radial Arm Saw. Qualitative description was used in developing the radial arm saw and performing try out and revision. Weighted mean was used in determining the acceptability of radial arm saw. To determine the significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups respondents, t-test was used. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data, the study revealed that on the design and construction of the Radial Arm Saw, the researchers were able to design a well detailed assembly drawing, pictorial drawing, exploded drawing and constructed a radial arm saw out of locally available materials. On the acceptability of the Improvised Radial Arm Saw in terms functionality, gained an overall weighted mean of 4.7 from the end-users and 4.6 for the experts, both are verbally interpreted are very much accepted. In terms of usefulness of the improvised radial arm saw, gained an overall weighted mean of 4.7 from the end users and4.4 for the experts both are verbally interpreted are very much accepted. In terms of safety and maintenance of the improvised radial arm saw, gained an overall weighted mean of 4.7 form the end-users and 4.6 for the experts both are verbally interpreted are very much accepted. Last is the durability of the improvised radial arm saw, gained an overall weighted mean of 4.7 from the end-users and 4.1 for the experts both are verbally interpreted are much accepted. Based from the findings of the study, it was concluded that there is no significant difference on the level of acceptability of the improvised radial arm saw in terms of functionality, usefulness, safety and maintenance. Therefore the null hypothesis is accepted on the aforementioned variables. However. In terms of durability, it is significant and therefore, not accepted. The overall design of the machine must be improved. Financial assistance must be extended to the researchers to facilitate the design and construction of the developed machine and a parallel study must be conducted to enhance the durability of the machine.
