Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Technology major in Mechanical and Production Technology University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop a modified portable sheet metal cutter. It was conducted at the University of Rizal System, Morong campus during the school year 2017-2018. The researchers utilized an adapted and modified questionnaire checklist to determine the level of acceptability of the portable sheet metal cutter. It was validated and accomplished by the respondents who provided information for the completion of the study. The result was tallied and computed for analysis. There were two groups of respondents who tested the acceptability of the project. The first group was consisted of five (5) experts who had the knowledge, skills and full awareness on the construction of the modified portable sheet metal cutter while the other group was consisted of fifteen (15) students taking up Bachelor of Technology major in Mechanical and Production Technology in the same University. Qualitative description was used in developing the modified portable sheet metal cutter and weighted mean was used in determining the acceptability of the modified portable sheet metal cutter. To determine its significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups of respondents, t-test was used. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data, the study revealed that, on the design and construction of the modified portable sheet metal cutter, the researchers were able to design a well detailed assembly drawing, pictorial drawing and exploded drawing and constructed modified portable sheet metal cutter with locally available material. On the design and construction of the project, the modified portable sheet metal cutter was designed, constructed and developed out of locally available materials. On the try-out and revision made, the developed modified portable sheet metal cutter was tested for operation wherein different flaws and short-comings were observed. Through try out and revisions method the device reached the output function and attained its objective. In the acceptability of the developed modified portable sheet metal cutter in terms of functionality, design, safety and maintenance, durability as evaluated by the respondents, all variables here evaluated as very much accepted. On the significant difference on the acceptability of the developed machine, it was found that there is no significant difference in terms of functionality, safety and maintenance and durability, therefore the null hypothesis is accepted. However, in terms of design it is not accepted. Based on the findings, the study concluded that, there is no significant difference on the evaluation made by the respondents in terms of functionality, safety and maintenance, durability and there is a significant difference in terms of design. Based on the foregoing findings and conclusions, the researchers recommended that administrators of Universities or Colleges may encourage their students and instructors to develop and construct instructional machines, gadgets and other shop equipment. Assistance may be given to students undergoing similar research or study to defray the high cost of materials needed. Lastly follow up study should be conducted to improve the overall design of the device to increase its performance.
