Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering University of Rizal System-Morong. 2014 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study entitled "Solar-Powered Speakers Controlled via Bluetooth" was designed to play music using Bluetooth with the help of Arduino RC Application. This device is made up of 4 speakers that is connected to an Mp3 Module where the Micro SD card is placed. The device is designed to benefit and support multi-tasking by generating energy with the use of solar panel and playing music through Bluetooth. This device is generally applicable to any type of events wherein the users don't need cables just to have a source of power. The project is divided into two parts; the hardware and software. The hardware part involves the physical devices and modules; the Bluetooth shield, Microcontroller, Mp3 Modules, battery, speakers and solar panel with controller. The software part is the system developed to make the project function, an application for the interface for the hardware device by the use of Arduino Sketch. This study focused on constructing a Solar-powered speakers controlled via Bluetooth that can help in conserving energy by using renewable energy and promote the preservation of environment. The project used 5 volts DC battery and 30 watts solar panel to provide an electrical power when there is no presence of light coming from the sun. The device can also be used as a source for small power usage, such as charging a cellphone battery and some energy storing devices. This device can be used in some remote areas where there is no source of electricity. The researchers constructed this for ten (10) students and five (5) faculty members. The device can be used during daytime when there's a presence of direct sunlight and can also be used even if there's no direct sunlight. The stored energy can be used during night time. The study aimed to provide alternative source of energy using sunlight. It can be also used especially in emergency situation. This research was conducted using descriptive developmental method that gave an enhanced and deeper understanding of the basis of an in depth study of the research in determining the construction of a Solar-powered speakers controlled via Bluetooth. It also used descriptive method in gathering information that the researchers need to know about what specific things can be used to manipulate and include in the study. The data used in this study were gathered and taken through the help of internet, related books, magazine containing construction of circuits, instrumentation and control, electronic enthusiasts and other related thesis. The researchers also made use of the questionnaire checklist as the tool for evaluation of the research project. To determine the level of acceptability of solar-powered speakers controlled via Bluetooth in terms of functionality, workability, acceptability, accuracy safety and maintenance, usefulness and user-friendliness weighted mean was utilized. The overall rating of the system as evaluated by the students obtained 4.87 and as to faculty members obtained 4.80 as revealed. The very much appreciation of the group, further shows that the solar-powered speakers controlled via Bluetooth really served its purpose and considered a device that generates music with energy as a source power and can be controlled wirelessly. It implies that the solar-powered speakers controlled via Bluetooth was accepted and could state the actualities in terms functionality, workability, acceptability, accuracy safety and maintenance, usefulness and user-friendliness.
