EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: With the aim of providing developed instructional material that can motivate and encourage learners to participate in the teaching-learning process, the researchers conducted a study entitled "Development and Acceptability of Multi-media Instructional Materials in Teaching Short Story". The research utilized the descriptive developmental research method with the use of their own modified questionnaire-checklist for the evaluation of the developed multi-media instructional materials in terms of objective, content, accuracy. Design and animation effect, presentation and style and user-friendliness. The multi-media instructional materials were developed through several steps. First, the selection of short stories that were presented in the multi-media instructional materials. Second, the instructional plan based on the new curriculum of every selected short story was made. Next, they made multi-media instructional materials based on the instructional plan using different transitions, animation effects, video clips and pictures. Lastly, they gave checklist to the respondents to evaluate the level of acceptability of the developed multi-media instructional materials. To determine the level of acceptability of the developed Multi-media instructional materials in teaching short story, the respondents validated it with the use of the questionnaire-checklist. The respondents were divided into three (3) groups, the literature teachers, IT experts and 4th year BSE-English students. The respondents agreed that the multi-media instructional materials are very much acceptable materials in teaching short story. The researchers therefore recommended that the follow-up study may be conducted on the effectiveness of the multi-media instructional materials.
