Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Content Courses University of Rizal System-Morong 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study determined the acceptability of intervention materials in Reading for Grade 2 learners. This study is descriptive type of research utilizing modified questionnaire-checklist as an instrument to find the level of acceptability of the developed intervention materials. This study was conducted during the academic year 2017-2018. The respondents were composed of three (3) English elementary teachers and forty-five (45) randomly selected Grade 2 learners to validate the effectiveness of the developed intervention materials from the Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Elementary School. The intervention materials were developed first by getting the third periodical examination that determined the least mastered competencies of the learners in reading. The result of the third periodical examination serves as the basis in making the intervention materials. From the obtained data on the Level of Reading Performance of Grade 2 learners, their reading competencies in phonemic awareness and writing compositions is very satisfactory. In terms of comprehension, grammar, phonics and word recognition the level of reading performance of Grade 2 learners is satisfactory. In terms of grammar and vocabulary development the level of reading performance of Grade 2 learners is fairly satisfactory. The conceptualization of intervention materials began by identifying the least competencies in reading of Grade 2 learners. The researchers considered teaching selected topics such as demonstrative pronoun and preposition using the intervention material. The intervention materials contain activities in teaching specific to topics such as demonstrative pronoun and preposition. The researchers utilized "Never-Ending Demonstrative Pronoun" and "Preposition Pizza" to enhance learners' interest and comprehension towards the lesson. Based on the gathered data, the result exposed that the level of acceptability of intervention materials as evaluated by the respondents in terms of objectives, content, creativity, and language used are 4.67, 4.80, 4.67, and 4.67 respectively which are all verbally interpreted as "Very Much Acceptable". Through the summary of findings, the following conclusions were formulated; Grade 2 learners found difficulties in studying Grammar and Vocabulary Development; Never-ending Demonstrative Pronoun and Preposition Pizza are effective intervention materials in enhancing the reading comprehension of the learners; and the intervention materials in Reading for Grade 2 learners can be used as a supplementary material in teaching Reading. In the light of findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are hereby offered; Utilize the intervention materials in teaching Reading for Grade 2 learners; Develop other intervention materials in teaching different topics; and Conduct parallel study to test the effectiveness of the developed intervention materials.
