Development and acceptability of multimodal comprehension

Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to develop a Multimodal Comprehension Material for Junior High School learners and also to test its acceptability. This was conducted during the academic year 2017-2018 at Bernardo F. San Juan National High School and Janosa National High School respectively. The descriptive-developmental research method was used utilizing the researchers made questionnaire-checklist for the test of acceptability of the developed multimodal comprehension material with respect to Objectives, Content, Creativity, Usability and Language-used. Qualitative discussion and mean were the statistical tools used to answer the problems in line with the study. vii The study revealed that the developed material, as perceived by the secondary teachers in English got an overall mean of 4.57 with respect to: objectives; creativity; usability; content and language-used and all are verbally interpreted as "Very Much Acceptable". Findings on the study led to the following conclusions: The material provides innovative and creative approach in the transfer of learning, coupled with teachers' love to impart knowledge, which led to the enhancement of the learners' knowledge; In addition, the Multimodal Comprehension Material was found useful for the enhancement of critical and comprehension skills of varied types of learners. Based on the findings and conclusion of the study, the researchers recommended to utilize the developed Multimodal Comprehension Material for the purpose of enhancing teaching-learning process; to engage the Junior High School learners to develop their comprehension and critical thinking skills by providing authentic activities and to conduct further research including the test of effectiveness of the developed Multimodal Comprehension Material for Junior High School Learners.
