Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the extent of social development and adjustments of children in the child caring agencies and orphanages and was conducted in the school year 2017-2018. The subject of the study were the children of the child caring agencies and orphanages described in terms of their profile such as sex, age, grade level, parents' marital status, and years of stay. The research-made questionnaire-checklist was used as the main instrument in gathering the data and was administered to the children in foster home. vii To further interpret the data gathered, the following statistical tools were applied. To determine the profile of the respondents in terms of different variables, frequency, percentage, and rank distribution was used. To determine the social adjustments of the respondents with respect to the given aspects, mean was applied. To determine the intellectual development of the respondents with respect to the given aspects, mean was applied. To find the significant difference on the extent of social adjustment of the respondents with respect to the given aspects in terms of their profile, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed. To find the significant difference on the extent of intellectual development of the respondents with respect to the given aspects in terms of their profile, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed. To find the significant relationship between the extent of social adjustments and the extent of intellectual development of the respondents, Pearson-r was applied. Based from the analysis and interpretations of data, the following are hereby summarized. From the summary of findings, the following conclusions are drawn. There are more female children in the child caring agencies and orphanages, who are 11 to 12 years old, Grade 11 to 12 with married parents staying in the caring agency or orphanages for 1 to 3 years. Children are always developed socially. Children always adjust with their peers/classmates, school, people in the community, child caring agencies and orphanages staff, and the children in the child caring agencies/orphanages. The profile of the children does not contribute to their viii social development and the personal information of the children contributes to their social adjustment. On the basis of the foregoing findings and conclusions, the researchers offered the following recommendations, Cooperation with MSWD needs to be intensified to address the other needs of the children. The orphanages may seek the cooperation of schools to conduct intervention activities related to social development and social adjustment of the children. Others intervention activities may be conducted in the orphanages. Future researches related to this study may be conducted using other variables.
