Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling University of Rizal System-Morong. 2016 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the life and stress management of elders living in selected towns in Rizal with respect to physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects. It was conducted during the academic year 2015-2016. The subjects of the study were the 20 elders from selected towns in Rizal described in terms of age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, place of origin, number of children and previous occupation. The researchers conducted the study to determine what is life and how the elders manage their stress living with their families. Also, to know in what ways elderswnat to feel important and valuable despite of their age. The researchers used guide questions as the major instrument in gathering data. The subject was limited to the elderly in selected towns in Rizal. Specifically, the data was gathered by the researchers through interview revealed that: on the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, place of origin, number of children and previous occupation; Most of the respondents are age 60-70 years old. In terms sex, six (6) of them are male and fourteen (14) are female. In terms of their civil status, half of them are married and other ten (10) are widowed. In terms of educational attainment, eleven (11) of them have reached grade school, seven (7) of them attained high school and the last two (2) respondents are under graduate. In terms of their place of origin, commonly they came form Region II, IV-A and XI. In terms of their number of children, ten (10) of them have five (5) children and above, nine (9) of them have four (4) children and below and only one of them don't have. In terms of their previous occupation, eighteen (18) of them were engaged in various field six (6) in garment industry, four (4) vendors, two (2) housekeepers, a former soldier, a cook, a farmer, a fisherman, a construction worker. Two (2) are housewives. On the view in life with respect to past, present and future; Elders view their life in the past with different perspectives like to become a good and loving mother, to have a better life, to be a responsible citizen that is to be respected and act as good model, even to poverty they will have good health, otherwise some don't have view's in life, for they feel that they are happy and contented. On the other hand, elders view in life at present time as for their family, they longed a bright future for their child, guide them and take care of them, grant them longer years and prevent them from sickness, others had no view in life because of their contentment in life. Lastly, their life's point of view in the future is to live longer and more prosperous life. They also wish not to be neglected by their children, may their grandchildren finidh their study, some want to motivate others as a helpful citizen while some are just waiting for the returning of the Lord. On the Stressor/Problems Encountered by the Elders, most of them experienced stess due to health, family and financial problem. On how the elderly manage their stress with respect to, Physical, Social, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual. Based on the findings presented the following conclusions were formulated: most of them respondents are female, ages 60-70 years old and attained elementary and high school level. Elders view life to have better future, not to be sick, to live longer years and to live with their families. The stressors of the elderly were generalized as health problem, family issues and financial concerns. Elders can cope and manage their stress by maintaining foods and medicines, socializing, participate in different programs, talking with their companions, and praying to have a longer lives. Basedon the findings, conclusions and facts gathered, the study recommend the following; Elderly should have free and regular medical services. The government and non-government organizations should conduct stress relieve programs like zumba and counseling programs. Elderly should be given quality time by their family members. Parallel study maybe conducted considering other variables.
