Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling University of Rizal System-Morong 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the participation of Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students to community projects and activities and its relationship to skill development. Thiswas conducted during the school year 2017-2018. The subjects of this study were the Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students in University of Rizal System, who were described in terms of their profile such as sex, age, year level, monthly family income, and religion The study used the questionnaire-checklist as the main instrument in gathering the needed data. It was validated with the help of experts in the field of guidance and counseling. The data gathered were tabulated and interpreted. Frequency and percentage distribution were the statistical treatment used to determine the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, age, year level, monthly family income, and religion. Frequency and percentage distribution were the statistical treatment used to determine the participation of the students to community projects and activities in terms of sports/games/talent search and activities, health and wellness program, clean and green project, and livelihood program. Mean was used to determine the level of skill development of Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students with respect to the different aspects. Chi-square was used to find the significant difference on the participation to community projects and activities with respect to the given aspectsin terms of their profile.Anova was used to find the significant difference on the level of skill development with respect to different aspects in terms of their profile. Chi-square was applied to find the significant relationship between participation of Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students to community projects and activities and skill development. Based on the summary of findings presented, the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, age, year level, monthly family income and religion out of 50 respondents 41 or 82 percent are female, 22 or 44 percent are age 19, 21 or 42 percent are ages 20 years above and 7 or 14 percent are age 18. There are more female in Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students, 19 years old, third year with the family income of 24,999 and below are Roman Catholic. Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students joined health and wellness program. Interpersonal skill was highly developed when students participated in community projects and activities. The personal information of Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling students are not contributing factors to their skill development. Cognitive skills, technical skills, and interpersonal skills are developed through joining in extra-curricular activities and participating to community projects and activities. Participation to community projects and activities are important to developtheir skills. Recommendations are also offered in the study that college students are encouraged to join and participate to community projects and activities especially those which cultivated their interests and talents. The institution may conduct seminar or lecture forum that will help develop the cognitive, technical and interpersonal skills of the students. Parallel study may be conducted considering other variables.
