Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering University of Rizal System-Morong. 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The general objective of this study was to develop a Smart Streetlight with Storage System at Sitio Macantog, Barangay Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal during the academic year 2018-2019. The study was conducted for the purpose of addressing remote area community problems such as lack of electricity. The design of the system was comprised of a smart street lighting coupled with a solar energy storage system along with a data logging feature. The study specifically aimed to: design and construct a Smart Streetlight with Storage System at Sitio Macantog, Barangay Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal, develop the system's user's manual and to evaluate the level of the system's acceptability in terms of functionality, efficiency, safety, maintenance and effectiveness. In determining the level of acceptability of the system, weighted mean was used. The researchers utilized a descriptive-developmental type of research method. In developing the system, the main hardware components were solar panel, solar charge controller, rechargeable battery, dimmable LED chips, Passive Infrared-based motion sensor, voltage and current sensors, SD Card Module, Arduino Nano microcontroller and Real-Time Clock (RTC) Module. In gathering the data for the results of this study, a researcher-made and expert-validated questionnaire checklist was utilized. The respondents for this study for the purpose of evaluation were 10 experts which mainly composed of engineers and URSMorong Engineering Faculty members, and 20 students. Based on the gathered data, the summary of findings was established. The Smart Streetlight with Storage System at Sitio Macantog, Barangay Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal was designed and constructed successfully. A user's manual was also developed to facilitate the utilization of the system. On the level of acceptability of the system as perceived by the respondents, the system was found extremely acceptable in terms of functionality, efficiency, safety, maintenance and effectiveness. Based on the summarized results, it was concluded that the system served its purpose with high level of acceptability on the different aforementioned parameters when it comes to harvesting energy from the solar panel and providing a lighting system for the selected community. Based on the findings and conclusion, the researchers set forth the following recommendations. A more effective motion-sensing device is recommended to be utilized. Expand the system's storage capacity by means of installing a more readily accessible data log storage. Make the system capable of providing a means for wirelessly monitoring of the status and its data logs. Lastly, if ever the system will be adapted, its design should be considered and a more stable pole for the installation of the developed system should be provided.
