Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English University of Rizal System-Morong 2015 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine and analyze the competence in subject-verb agreement of junior non-english major students from the college of education of selected campuses of university of rizal system 2014-2015. Sex, Parents' Educational attainment, type of school graduated from and reading materials at home, were considered as the variables to describe the respondents of the study. The study made use of the descriptive method research design. Researcher-made test served as the tool to gather the needed data. The instrument was subjected to content validation. Frequency and percentage distribution were used to determine the profile of the respondents. Mean and frequency distribution were the statistical tools used to determine and analyze the subject-verb agreement competence of the respondents with respect to difference aspects. F-test was applied to find out the significant difference on the competence in subject-verb agreement with respect to the profile of the respondents. Based on the gathered data, it was concluded that most of the respondents are females and belong to families whose parents attained high school level. The respondents also have their prior knowledge about the rules of subject-verb agreement which makes them competent. In terms of their sex and reading materials at home the competence in subject-verb agreement of the respondents is significantly different. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers must conduct seminars on English advancement of the students specifically in subject-verb agreement; give emphasis in teaching the rules of compound subject for learners to become familiar and ore aware in using this; expose students on exercise dealing with the different rules of subject categories; and conduct studies considering other variables and other respondents.
