EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop a foldaway shelter. Specifically, this study attempted design and construct a foldaway shelter and perform try-out and revision. Furthermore, the study determined the acceptability of the developed foldaway shelter and the foldable tent as evaluated by the respondents in terms of design and functionality, safety and maintenance, usefulness and durability. Lastly, this study determined the significant difference between the foldable tent and the developed foldaway shelter in terms of the above-mentioned variables. Additionally, this study designed, developed and constructed out of locally available materials. The researchers considered several factors in designing the object, such as availability of the needed materials. By seeking the aid of the experts, the researchers successfully finished the construction of the developed foldaway shelter. Moreover, the developed study was tested for operations, were different flaws and imperfections was noticed. Several defects were found and through try-out and revisions method, the developed foldaway shelter reached its functional output and attained its objectives. On the level of acceptability, the developed foldaway shelter, in terms of design and functionality, safety and maintenance, usefulness and durability found to be more accepted than the existing foldable tent based on the respondents. On the significant difference on the acceptability between the developed foldaway shelter and the existing foldable tent in terms of design and functionality, safety and maintenance, usefulness and durability, the null hypothesis is rejected and found out to be significant. Lastly, based from all the results, researchers concluded that further studies using other evaluation criteria may be conducted to enhance more the design and other parts of the object.
