EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to design and construct an improvised exhaust gas filter that can reduce the black smoke or reduce harmful chemical from vehicle or machine in the factory that produce a smoke which can be done by one person alone. It was developed using locally available materials during the school year 2018-2019 at university of rizal system, morong campus. In conducting the study, the researchers used the developmental and descriptive type of research method. Two groups of respondents were chosen for the evaluation of the study. The first group was composed of ten (10) experts from automotive and mechanical professors while the second group was composed of twenty (20) end0users coming from the automotive students and supervised trainees. The adapted and modified questionnaire-checklist was utilized to determine the level of acceptability of the device with respect to usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance and functionality. It was also used to determine the significant difference between the evaluation made by the experts and end-user in terms of the mentioned variables. In terms of the gathered data, the results revealed that the device is extremely useful, extremely durable and extremely safe and maintainable and extremely functional. It also revealed that there was no significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups of respondents in terms of selected variables. Therefore, the device was accepted. The improvised exhaust gas filter was designed and constructed out of locally available materials. The try out and revision were also done by the researchers during the construction period of the improvised exhaust gas filter defects were found out, as well as the problems encountered during the try out period revision were done by the researchers to replace and fix the defective parts of the device, until the project reached the functional stage. Based from the result of the study, the researchers arrived with the following recommendations. First, the extension hose should be used as the extension from muffler. Second, the device should be used as instructional materials in technical school. Third, the future researchers are should encouraged to conduct further studies for more enhancement and improvement of the development device.
