Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Psychology University of Rizal System-Morong 2019 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This thesis entitled, the experience and challenges of solo parent in rearing children was conducted with a purpose of determining the experiences and challenges of solo parents in rearing children. There were six (6) selected respondents who are residents in pililla, tanay and cardona in rizal province. The study made use of qualitative research method using case study method; it is designed to reveal target audience range of behavior and perceptions that drive it with preferences to specific topics of issues. It utilized researchers-made structured interview and did not involve measurement of statistic. For the result of the study, it showed that all the solo parent respondents experienced difficulties in doing the household chores. All of the respondents have different doubts by imagining the most difficult things might come in their lives are fear of death, restriction of lifestyle and living alone. Lack of finances is the common problem that the solo parents encountered and it has an impact and causes their stress. All the solo parents know how to divide their time to balance work and family obligations knowing their priorities. All of the female respondents use spanking of their children but the male respondents are using words when their children disobey them. As general recommendation, future researchers similar to this may deal on the experiences and challenges of solo parents in rearing children with different aspects. The government and other organizations may have development program with single parents, or by concluding and implementing effective livelihood programs with single parents, or by concluding and implementing effective livelihood programs to support the financial resources of solo parents. Discrimination of information about the solo parents' welfare act of 2000 is encouraged.
