EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The research study entitled "Design of River Channel for Flood Mitigation in Sitio Tambongco, BRgy. San Guillermo Morong, Rizal" was conducted for the purpose of flood mitigating, controlling soil erosion and overflow of water. The study considered the maximum precipitation, the area covered and depth. The researchers primarily focused on designing the dimensions of the channel that can help on limiting the amount of excessive water that will overflow due to heavy rains. The study used developmental research. Using developmental research, the researchers look for solutions for a certain problem given the situation within the area being develop and aimed to develop a design of channel for the river. The cantilever retaining wall design uses the principle of hydraulics, hydrology and fluid mechanics in determining the total capacity of water that it could accommodate. Estimation of immediate flow rate is acquired by using rainfall desired intensity frequency. The study employs survey, data gathering and calculations to determine the retaining wall design. The researchers survey on the area and ask for an assistance from the MDRRMO to determine the needed variables and evaluated them to come up with an output. The researchers used the Drawing Utility Software (AutoCAD) and google earth pro to determine the area of the concerned lots. The researchers concluded that the designed river channel can carry large volume of discharged water based on the rainfall intensity data. The design proposal possessed the attributes of a good system such as applicability, acceptability and capability. Therefore the design is adequate to apply in Sitio Tambongco, Brgy. San Guillermo Morong, Rizal. Based on the findings and conclusions, the researchers recommend for further study may consider the waste coming from the surrounding community and cost estimation for future construction.
