Performance of free range chicken fed with varying levels of papaya leaf meal / Louven A, Camarador.

The experimental method was used in this study to determine the effects of Papaya Leaf Meal at varying levels to the free range chicken. The Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was used in four (4) treatments and three (3) replications. Treatments were 0%, 10%, 15% and 20% Papaya Leaf Meal. Analysis of Variance and Scheffe test were used as statistical tool. Papaya Leaf Meal shows significant difference on Feed Consumption, it decreased on high supplementation of Papaya Leaf Meal on feed ration of free range chicken. There is also significant difference on Feed Conversion Efficiency between control level to lower levels and higher levels of Papaya Leaf Meal. Supplementation of Papaya Leaf Meal increases the feed conversion efficiency of free range chicken. However, average gain in weight and ADG had revealed no significant difference (P>0.05). Papaya Leaf Meal doesn't affect the average gain in weight and ADG of free range chicken, however numerical differences can be seen on both parameters. In terms of economic profitability, higher levels of Papaya Leaf Meal obtained higher economic profitability than any other treatments, T4 (20% Papaya Leaf Meal) has the highest return of investment, it shows that as the levels of Papaya Leaf Meal increases, feed cost also decreases making a lower total expenses making it more profitable.
