Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Elementary Education University of Rizal System 2017 Summary: This study aimed to determine the mathematical skills of grade 3 pupils in University of Rizal System Tanay. This study used the descriptive method of research. The respondents were thirty three (33) Grade 3 pupils in the Laboratory Grade School of the University of Rizal System, Tanay Campus; School Year 2016-2017. Total enumeration was used. Teacher made test was the main instrument, used in gathering data needed. The statistical tools used to treat the data were frequency percentage distribution and rank and mean. Findings revealed that most of the respondents are female, they are second born children. In terms of monthly family income, they receive 15,000-20,000 and their grade in mathematics reflects the highest grade which falls in the grade range of 90 above. The level of mathematical skills of the respondents in different competencies are: translation and adding numbers, attains a high mean resulting to verbal interpretation of advanced. Dividing numbers fall under developing, subtracting, multiplying, and rounding numbers all fall under beginning. It means that several skills included in administered test fall under the proficient. Based on the summary of findings, the following conclusions were drawn. Majority of the Grade 3 pupils who took the exam were female, who are secondborn, with monthly income of 15,000-20,000 and have an advance performance in Mathematics. Grade 3 pupils are competent in Addition, Translating Numbers, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication, and Rounding Numbers. But they are beginning to develop competency in Place Value. Based on the conclusions, the researchers recommend that the parents may find time to teach their kids in their Math lesson especially in subtracting 3-4 digits number and rounding numbers. The teacher may administer remedial class in Math to improve the performance of struggling pupils. The teacher may apply effective strategy in teaching and helping the pupils who have difficulty in math. The teacher may continue to make learning relevant using worksheets to teach students to borrow numbers. The teacher may make lesson activity-centered which will help them to get involved to subtraction, rounding numbers division and multiplication.
