Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Business Administration University of Rizal System Tanay 2019 Summary: This study aimed to determine and evaluate the occupational stress management practices of houseparents in the National Training School for Boys in Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal The descriptive method of research was utilized in this study using Questionnaire-Checklist as the main instrument in gathering data. The fifty (50) houseparents of National Training School for Boys in Tanay, Rizal were purposively selected as the respondents with frequency, percentage distribution and rank, mean and One-way ANOVA were applied as statistical treatments in analyzing the result of the study. It revealed that majority of the houseparents are males and accordingly the nature of work entails for them; are married; NTSB accepts various attainment of education for employment. Majority are college graduates. Their salary grade ranges from 1 to 6 depending on their status of employment; they are also serving the agency for quite some time and are permanent in their work. Finally, the agency recognizes Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)-hired workers as a product of their Collective Negotiation Agreement or CNA; At work, performing the duties and responsibilities of being a houseparent is the major stressor that they are experiencing at all times. The result explains that the work entails to the houseparent is quite challenging; The most effective technique to deal the stress is to chant or sing. Indeed, singing can lighten terrible load; and There is a significant difference on the evaluation of the respondents on the occupational stress experienced according to their profile in terms of age and length of service. The evaluation of the respondents on occupational stress experienced do not differ significantly when they are grouped according to their profile in terms sex, civil status, educational attainment, monthly income and status of employment. There is no significant difference on the evaluation on the occupational stress experienced by the respondents and on the effectiveness of the stress management techniques employed. From the aforementioned results it is recommended that the NTSB administrator should intensify an unstressful program or activity away from houseparents stressful duties and responsibilities; to become more competitive houseparent, houseparents member are encouraged to improve themselves professionally on handling stressor within the work place and pursue advance preparations of activity; the houseparent members should engage themselves in related activities to reduce stress within the organization; the houseparent must use the most effective and appropriate practices of respondents in stress management in practices; time management and personal strategy should be used as a means of managing stress and a similar study may be conducted using other respondents such as the houseparents‟ immediate supervisor(s) and variables like stress coming from the family, peers and others that can also affect work performance.
