ABSTRACT The primary objective of this study was to design and evaluate the performance of the Propeller-Type Pico Hydro Power Turbine. This equipment was designed and constructed at Sitio Malaanonang, Brgy Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal. The performance evaluation was conducted at Tonton Falls, Liro Homes Subdivision, Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, on March 1, 2016. The statistical treatment used was the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) utilizing three treatments. The turbine has an overall weight of 50.8 kg. The dimensions of the flume are 90 cm long, 70 cm wide and 40 cm high. The alternator cover is 70 cm long, 30 cm wide and 20 cm high. The distance of the alternator cover from the top of the flume is 10 cm. The height of the draft tube is 19 cm with a diameter of 30 cm. The length of the shaft is 100 cm and its distance from the alternator is 36 cm. The driving pulley has a diameter of 15.24 cm while the driven pulley has a diameter of 6.35 cm. The belt is 107 cm long. The propeller has a diameter of 34 cm and each blade has a dimension of 21 cm by 13 cm. The study reveals that there is a significant difference in average current, average voltage, average power and mechanical efficiency in the operation of the Propeller-type Pico Hydro Power Turbine at Tonton Falls 1, Tonton Falls 2 and Salang Matanda at different volumetric flow rates. The operation of the turbine at Tonton Falls 1 resulted to an average of 4.29 amperes, 12.63 volts and 54.28 watts. The operation of the turbine at Tonton Falls 2 resulted to an average of 4.02 amperes, 12.41 volts and 49.98 watts. The operation of the turbine at Salang Matanda resulted to an average of 5 amperes, 13.61 volts and 68.21 watts. The investment cost in constructing the turbine is 10,528.00 php. The investment will be recovered in 2.98 years at Tonton Falls 1, 3.24 years at Tonton Falls 2 and 2.37 years at Salang Matanda.
