Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Biology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cabbage as antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus. The study was conducted at the URS-Morong in the school year 2009-2010. The study also aimed to prove that cabbage can be used as alternative sure in skin diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus. This research utilized descriptive method where the effectiveness of cabbage extract was observed, determined and analyzed. The data were gathered upon treating the Staphylococcus aureus with 100% concentration of cabbage extract with the span of 72 hours. After the experiment, the data were gathered and computed using mean and standard deviation and One way Analysis of Variance to determine the rate of the zone of inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus with respect to the length of the incubation days. According to the results, it revealed that the 100% concentration of cabbage extract has the highest mean and standard deviation in the 72 hours of exposure to the test organism. Hence, the longer the time of incubation days, the more effective or the bigger the zone of inhibition. Lastly, cabbage extract has a significant effect as antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus. On the findings of the study, it was recommended to have further study and analysis on the other use of cabbage.
