ASOS originated at the University of Lund, Sweden in 1983, and this was the first time that it was held outside of Europe and the Americas. The meeting participants were a mixed international group from Europe, the Americas and Asia. This book represents a flavor of presentations made by internationally renowned experts, in a variety of fields relevant to the ASOS community. The book contains a special contribution entitled Charlotte Froese Fischer's 2014;Her Work and Her Impact, written and presented by Professor Alan Hibbert of The Queen's University Belfast. The ASOS timing was chosen to overlap with Charlotte's 2019;s 90th birthday and a significant part of the meeting was a tribute to her work.
