Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the scope and best practices of guidance services in selected public and private high schools in Rizal. This was conducted during the academic year 2015-2016. The subjects of the study were 10 guidance counselors from selected high schools and described in terms of age, civil status, sex, school, designation/position, length of service and highest educational attainment. The study was conducted to determine the scope of guidance services implemented in selected public and private high school in Rizal. The researchers used a modified questionnaire-checklist as the major instrument in gathering data. The subject was limited to the guidance counselor in selected schools in Rizal. Based from the summary of findings, the following conclusions were drawn. There were more female guidance counselors in public and private high school in Rizal who are in their middle age, married, and MAED graduate, designated as guidance counselor and served the school for 4 to 7 years. Public and private high schools very much implemented the guidance services with respect to personal, educational and vocational. Public and private high schools always implemented guidance services with respect to individual inventory, information, counseling, placement and follow up service. Age, civil status, sex, school, designation, length of service, and highest educational attainment of guidance counselor are not significant to the extent of best practices of guidance program. There is a significant difference in the implementation of pubic and private high schools in vocational and found not significant in personal and educational aspects. Based on the findings and conclusions derived, the following recommendations are hereby offered. Guidance counselors should attend seminars and training's to update their skills and knowledge in the implementation of different guidance services. Various guidance activities must be conducted to enhance the role of teachers and students in guidance services. Parallel study maybe conducted considering other variables, like best practices.
