Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education major in Special Education) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: Executive Summary: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the teaching approaches among special education pupils. It was conducted at Ilaya Elementary School, Maybancal Elementary School and Tayuman Elementary School - Special Education Center, during school year 2010 - 2011. The ten (10) Special Education teachers served as the respondents of the study. They were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. The researchers used the questionnaire checklist as a major instrument in gathering data which was validated before its administration to the chosen respondents. To determine the profile of the respondents, frequency, percentage and rank distribution were used. To determine the effectiveness of teaching approaches used to special education weighted mean was used, and to determine the significant difference on the level of effectiveness of the teaching approaches used in special education pupils, one way analysis of variance ANOVA was used. In the line with the result of the study, it was found that in terms of age 4 or 40 percent ages range from 21-30. With regard to sex, 7 or 70 percent are female. There are 3 respondents or 30 percent of them who have 1-2 years length of service. In terms of monthly family income, 6 or 60 percent of them earned 10,000-20,000. With regard to educational attainment, 6 or 60 percent finished BSE. With respect to the aspect on the level of effectiveness of teaching approaches, individual tutoring get the highest mean 4.84, followed by visual arts with mean of 4.82 and the last in rank is small group techniques with mean of 4.70. Therefore, the researchers conducted that the teaching approaches used among the special education pupils such as Kinesthetic, Visual Arts, Individual Tutoring, Verbal Approach and Small Group Techniques are all Very much effective. The researchers also recommend that the extreme supports to the special education pupils in all aspects should be given by the government. The next researchers that would conduct this kind of study should use other variable to gain more data and information about the effectiveness of teaching approaches.
