Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Technology in Automotive Technology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to design, and develop the improvised oil seal puller. Specifically, this attempted to determine the effectiveness of the oil seal puller in terms of usefulness, safety, durability and performance. It also determined the significant difference on the evaluation made by two groups of respondents in terms of the above mentioned criteria. The researchers utilized an instrument, a modifies questionnaire checklist to determine the acceptability of the developed improvised oil seal puller. It us a validated instrument accomplished by the respondents who provided pertinent information for the completion of this study. The results tallied and computed for analysis. There were two groups of respondents who tested the acceptability of the project. The first group consisted of ten (10) automotive instructors who had knowledge, skills and understanding about construction and operation of an improvised oil seal puller. While the other group also of fifteen (15) automotive students who could possibly use the improvised oil seal puller. The statistical treatments used were weighted mean and independent test and single classification analysis of variance. The weighted mean was used to determine the acceptability of the project. While the independent test and the single classification were used to test the significant difference on the perception of the experts and the end-users on the acceptability of the developed improvised oil seal puller. The developed improvised oil seal puller was completed and constructed out of low cost and locally available materials. It was then determined that the output was accepted as evaluated by the respondents. The computed value in terms of usefulness showed that there was no significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and end-user. While the computed t-value in terms of safety, durability, and performance showed that, there was no significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and the end users. Based on the mentioned recapitulation of the findings, the conclusion was that the Improvised Oil Seal Puller (IOSP) was useful device for vehicle owners since it can be operated manually, safety and very easy to maintain. Some recommendations had arrived based on the results of the study. The device should be stored in a dry place, the bolt adjuster should be lubricated before storage and parallel study should be conducted to ensure safety devices in automotive and to add more features.
