Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Psychology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study is entitled "CONCEPT OF IDENTITY AMONG PEOPLE WITH EXTREME TATTO". The researchers conducted the study with the purpose of determining the concept of identity among people with extreme tattoo. There were five (5) selected respondents within the province of Rizal which are mainly Tanay, Pililla and Angono. This study made use of descriptive qualitative method of research. It did utilize a researcher-made structure interview and did not involve measurement of statistics. It is a method of inquiry employed in many different academic disciplines traditionally social sciences. The discussion showed that people with extreme tattoo tend to engage into this kind of activity because for them it is passion, art and an outlet of expression. It also helps them to show their concept of identify that is enhanced and showed through the use of extreme tattooing. Moreover, the study also shows the relationship of tattoo to the respondents' identify in terms of their personal, social and ego identity. Personal identity is what someone makes stand out in a crowd. In this part, most of the respondents stated they became somehow known and recognized because of their bodies that are filled with tattoos. Likewise, social identity refers on how someone is identified by others. In this case, the respondents addressed the discriminations and negativities that they have faced after being engaged in extreme tattooing. Furthermore, ego identity on the side pertains to the self-concept of an individual. In this part, the subjects stated that because of their tattoos they began to change the idea that they have about themselves. They became unique, cool and somehow upgraded in a good way. Aside from this, their tattoos also helped them in terms of creating and building their own identity that makes them different from a particular person or group of people. However, tattooing also includes negative effects in different aspects most likely on someone's health condition. Different examples are allergic reaction, skin infections, hematoma and blood thinners. One may also be prohibited in donating blood once he or she is engaged into this activity. Based on the findings of the study, it is concluded that people with extreme tattoo have their own concepts of identity that is enhanced and shown through the use of tattooing. It helps the, to create and build their own identity that differs them to be distinct from other people. As a recommendation, the researchers' suggest that the community must administer programs to raise awareness on tattooing as an art, passion and an expression. Aside from this, the government should also maintain and strengthen the law of human rights in the country to lessen the discrimination and negative acts towards people who are engaged in extreme tattooing.
