Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The thesis is entitled " Mechanical Mounting Design of Eddy Current Brake" is a research project which has a design approach tackled on developing a new braking system that can reinstate the conventional braking system. The Mechanical Mounting Design of Eddy Current Brake consists of the rotating disc plate and the aluminum-magnet brake plate. Locally accessible materials was used to build, developed and completed the Mechanical Mounting Design of Eddy Current Brake. The material used for rotating disc plate was aluminum due to its non-magnetic and conductive properties and aluminum-magnet brake plate serves as the brake which is composed of two rectangular plates and NdFeb N42 attached in it. The project aimed to develop an eddy current braking system that are quiet, frictionless, and wear - free that require little or no maintenance that also make it environmentally friendly. It was also intended to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the eddy current brake. Developmental research method was used since the study aimed to a new braking system for light vehicles that will replace the friction braking system into eddy current brake that are quiet, frictionless and wear free. Experimental research was applied by the researchers to maintain control over all factors that may affect the result of the study. Based on the experimentation and computations made by the researchers on the project, it was presented that the project is effective and can be used as a new braking system. It was also found out that as the load increases the rotational speed decreases which results to increasing efficiency. As a result, the Mechanical Mounting Design of Eddy Current Brake can be built, developed and completed using locally available materials and was found to be effective and efficient to use as braking system.
