Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to find put a comparative study on goal-setting and academic performance of married and single college students. The study was conducted during the school year 2016-2017 in University of Rizal System of married and single college student. The variable used was the goal setting with sub-variables of choice effort persistence and cognition and the academic performance. The study used the purposive type of research using adopted modified questionnaire checklist as a main instrument for gathering data to determine the difference on goal-setting and academic performance of married and single college students. The latest grades for the second semester of the respondents were taken to determine their academic performance. Mean was used to determine the extent goal-setting of the respondents. Likewise, mean and standard deviation were used to determine the level of academic performance of the respondents. Furthermore, the T-test was used to determine the difference of goal-setting and the academic performance of married and single college students. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents are motivated in terms goal-setting. It's further revealed that goal-setting of married and single college students have no significant difference. While on their academic performance it's further revealed that there is a significant difference. Based on the findings and conclusion of the study. The researchers recommended the following. The student development services may conduct regular program that will help married and single college students in attaining their goals as a good indication of their motivation at school faculty members may continually monitor and evaluate the academic performance of married and single college students to maintain their motivation in achieving their goals conduct further study considering other factors that affect the academic performance of the married and single college students through goal-setting the student development services may adopt the proposed action plan for goal-setting of married and single college students.
