Thesis (Bachelor of Technology major in Electrical Technology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to design and construct Portable Cellphone Charger to be used in charging cellphone during brownout and emergency. Specifically, it aimed to test the Portable Cellphone Charger in terms of Functionality of parts, maintenance and safety features of the project. Also, it aimed to determine the significant difference on the evaluation made by the two groups of respondents on the acceptability of Portable Cellphone charger with respect to the above mentioned variables. The researchers utilized an evaluation sheet to determine the acceptability of Portable Cellphone Charger. The experts in Electrical Technology of College of Industrial Technology validated the research instrument. The respondents who provided pertinent information crucial to the completion of this study accomplished a validated research instrument. The results were tallied and computed for the analysis. Three (3) groups of respondents tested the project for acceptability. The first group consisted of ten (10) BT-Electrical students, ten (10) BT-Electronics student and other groups consisted of ten (10) experts who have knowledge, skills and thorough understanding on its construction and operation. The statistical treatments used were weighted mean and independent t-test. The weighted mean was used to determine the acceptability of the project. While independent t-value was used to test the significant difference on the perception of the experts and the end users on the acceptability of Portable Cellphone Charger. Based on the analysis of the data gathered, the following was summarized that Portable Cellphone Charger could be constructed out of available materials found in many electrical and electronic shops. It was tested and found operational after a series of studies, experimentation and modification. Through try-out and revisions made, the objectives of the study to attain the functional output of the project were achieved. The evaluation made by the two groups of respondents revealed that in terms of design of Portable Cellphone Charger as perceived by the students, the average weighted mean of the project is 4.7, verbally interpreted as extremely useful. As perceived by the experts the average weighted mean of Portable Cellphone Charger id 4.9 verbally interpreted as extremely accepted. On the significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and students in terms of design it got a mean difference of .2 with 28 as the degree of freedom with .05 level of significance got a completed t-value of .87 is less than the tabulated t-value of 2,048 thus the mill hypothesis is Accepted and verbally interpreted as not significant. In terms of functionality, it got a mean difference of 0 with 28 as the significance with .05 level of level of significance got a computed t-value of 0 is less than the tabulated t-value of 2.048 thus the null hypothesis is accepted and verbally interpreted as not significant. In terms of safety features of a mean difference of .1 with 28 as the degree of freedom with .05 level of significance got a computed t-value of .67 is less than the tabulated t-value interpreted as not significant. In terms of maintenance got a mean difference of 2 with 28 as the degree of freedom with .05 level of significance got a computed t-value of .51 is less than the tabulated t-value of 2.048 thus the null hypothesis is the Accepted and verbally interpreted as not significant. Based on the findings, the researchers concluded that the Portable Cellphone Charger had no significant difference on the evaluation made by the two groups of respondents in terms of Design, Functionality, Safety Features and Maintenance. Based on the findings and conclusions, the researchers recommended that the chassis should be made out of wood cover with paint to be presentable. Crank-arm must be improved to make it suitable to a regulated speed of any driver. Portable Cellphone Charger should be turned to one direction only. And lastly, further studies should be conducted to improve this study.
