Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Technology major in Electromechanical Technology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This research study aimed to construct and utilize a Reciprocating Compressor as Vacuum Pump. Specifically, this study constructed a device out of locally available materials; performed try-out and revision of the project; determined the acceptability of Utilized Reciprocating Compressor in terms of usefulness, functionality, safety and maintenance; moreover, text the level of performance of the Utilized Reciprocating Compressor in terms of the Duration of cleaning contains dirt and flashing capability of the device. This was conducted at the University of Rizal System, of Morong Campus by the students of Bachelor of Technology major in Electromechanical A.Y 2016-2017. It is limited to the design, conceptualization. Construction, testing and revision. This also made for instructional purposes, to ensure the learning process that there is no difference between the real vacuum pump and the research of reciprocating compressor as vacuum pump. This study utilized the developmental and descriptive methods of research to determine the acceptability of the Utilized Reciprocating Compressor as Vacuum Pump. Also, an adapted and modified checklist was used and validated by 5 experts and 20 end-users from Electromechanical technology in the College of Industrial Technology and the experts in refrigeration and air-conditioning. In terms of design and construction, it was constructed and developed out of low cost materials. In terms of lay-out and revision the device was tested for operation where different weaknesses were manifested. Through try-out and revisions the projects reached the functional output and attain the project objectives. On the acceptability of the completed output of Utilized Reciprocating Compressor as Vacuum Pump, is in verbally interpreted as "Extremely useful" respectively in terms of usefulness. In terms of functionality the device merited a verbal interpretation of "Extremely Functional". In terms of safety the Utilization of Reciprocating Compressor as Vacuum Pump obtained a verbal interpretation of "extremely safe". In terms of maintenance the device obtained a verbal interpretation as 'extremely easy to maintain". The user's manual was developed with different content such as the specification, important safeguards, how to use and cleaning and maintenance. The hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference between the evaluation made by the experts and end users in terms of usefulness, functionality, safety and maintenance. Based form the results of the study, the researchers arrived on the following recommendations; training institution must encourage the students to design and construct device to help experts and end-users. Feasibility study should be conducted to further enhance and improve the project.
