EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the extent of effects of mother tongue-based multilingual education in teaching mathematics, with respect to Pupil's Interest and participation. This was conducted at Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School during School Year 2015-2016. There are 18 teachers in Grades 1, 2, and 3 in the said school as the respondents. The questionnaire checklist was used as the instrument in gathering data and basis for finding out the extent of effects of mother tongue-based multilingual education in teaching mathematics with respect to age, sex, position title, length of service and number of seminars attended in MTB-MLE. Descriptive method of research was used. It was found out that the use of mother tongue in teaching mathematics boosts pupil's interest and participation during the discussion. Therefore, the use of mother tongue is effective in teaching mathematics. It is recommended that the use of mother tongue is advisable in teaching Mathematics and parallel studies must be conducted considering other variables.
