Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Sciences) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop an android application as instructional material in Chemistry for Grade 8 students and determined its effects. This was conducted at Bernardo F. San Juan National High School during the school year 2016-2017. The developed android application has different features, it has video lesson for the discussion of every topic, definition of terms, representation of periodic table of elements and quiz game that will help students to enhance their interest and understanding in selected lessons in Chemistry. The Grade 8 students were divided into two groups, the control and experimental groups. The experimental group was exposed to the developed android application while the control group used the module in Science. The researchers used thirty seven (37) students from G-8 as the control group and thirty seven (37) students from G-8 Taurus as the experimental group. The study used descriptive-developmental and experimental method of research, utilizing parallel group research design and pretest and posttest scores were used to calculate the mean and standard deviation. To determine if there's a significant difference on the level of performance of the experimental group and control group as revealed in the pretest and posttest scores with respect to the selected lessons, dependent t-test was used. To determine if there's a significant difference on the level of performance of the experimental group and control group as revealed in the posttest scores with respect to the selected lessons in Chemistry, independent t-test was used. It was found out that there is an increase in the performance of the students as they were exposed to the android application in the lesson Periodic Table of Elements. Furthermore, there's no significant difference on the performance of the experimental and control groups in the lesson Atomic Structure and Periodic Table of Elements. Therefore, it was statistically found out that the performance of the two groups of students have a significant difference on their performance in the lesson Particle Nature of Matter as revealed by the pretest and posttest result.
