Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Technology and Livelihood Education) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: With the aim of developing alternative ply board using sawdust and shredded plastic and light veneer for fabrication to reduce garbage problems and help decrease deforestation that have a significant factor in learner's main domain advancement, the researchers conducted a study entitled 'Utilization of Sawdust and Plastic Foil as an Alternative Ply board' In utilizing the plastic foil to make a particle board, the researchers conducted different procedures; plastic foil preparation, molding preparation and attaching preparation. After collecting all materials needed, researchers mixed sawdust, plastic foil and glue to form a particle board. They mold and flatten in an 8 x 11 inches size paper and place to dry. Cut two equal size plywood sheets and glue each surface and bind together using clamps to press and squeeze the alternative ply board. The study used experimental developmental research method using modified questionnaire-checklist, for the evaluation of the product. The responses were collected, tabulated and interpreted using the appreciate statistical treatment. Mean was used to determine the level of acceptability of alternative ply board in terms of appearance, economic aspect, environmental aspect and usefulness. From the analysis of data evaluated by end users, the findings was "Much Accepted" in terms of appearance economic aspect and usefulness. In environmental aspect was interpreted aspect was interpreted as 'Very Much Accepted'. As for the selected T.L.E students, the result was 'Much Accepted' in terms of appearance and usefulness while in terms of appearance and usefulness while in the environmental and economic aspect was 'Very Much Accepted'. The level of acceptability on the utilization of Sawdust and Plastic Foil as an Alternative Ply board as evaluated by the groups of respondents was fail to reject and there is no significant difference. The study tested the strength of existing and alternative ply board in terms of screw withdrawal test. Both the developed and existing and ply board obtained the mean of 5.0 and interpreted as 'No Tendency of Screw Withdrawal'. The study was also tested the strength of existing and alternative ply board in terms of water absorption test. The existing ply board obtained a mean of 5.0 and interpreted as 'No Tendency of Water Absorbed', while the alternative ply board obtained a mean of 4.0 and interpreted as 'Partial Tendency of Absorbed Water'. The strength of alternative ply board is failed to reject and there is no significant difference between the existing ply board in terms o Screw Withdrawal and Water Absorption Test. The foregoing findings of the study concretized the Strength of Existing Ply board and Alternative Ply board was failed to reject and there is no significant difference in terms of screw withdrawal test and water absorption test. Based on the findings and conclusions drawn, it is recommended to try another method of preparation of the alternative ply board using other adhesive substances, utilize mixing machine in making the product, conduct another study considering the marketability of the developed product and conduct other test to determine the strength and limitation of the developed product.
