Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Psychology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study was conducted to describe the susceptibility and resiliency of children of female sex workers during the School Year 2017-2018. Children of female sex workers are susceptible to different detrimental factors around them and from these factors; children of female sex workers develop resiliency to overcome adversities. This study was anchored in Activating Event, Belief, Consequences (A-B-C) theory of Albert Ellis. The theory states that emotions people experience such as for example, frustration or anxiety, and resulting behavior, do not come directly from the events in their lives, but from the interpretations they make of those events, it is from the conscious or subconscious beliefs they bring to that situation. This study used descriptive qualitative design. It is an approach that exerts beyond mere description and into the domain of the "so what" that drives all applied disciplines. Interpretive description becomes conceptual maneuver whereby a solid and substantive logic derive from the disciplinary orientation justifies the application of specific techniques and procedures outside of their conventional context. The researchers have used purposive sampling technique in this study. The research focused on seven children of female sex workers who reside in Angono, Binangonan and Tanay. The researchers made use of interview method with unstructured questions to gather data. The questions were made by the researchers and had been validated by four experts. Based on the findings of the study, it is concluded that children of female sex workers' acceptance of their mother's work helped them attain closer relationships with their families. Through their family and peers' support, they were able to gain resiliency from stress, health problems, social isolation, peer influence, safety, and low academic performance. Their susceptibility aided them to aspire to provide better lives families in the future. As a general recommendation for future researchers: parents may encourage healthy family relationships by spending more time with their children and maintaining an open communication with their children to become productive members of the society, children may need to have proper family and peers support system whom they can disclose their problems in order to assist with their development, educational institution and/or local government unit may provide different interventions and seminars for parents to improve knowledge about parenting, enhanced parent-child relationships, increased economic self-sufficiency, and reduction in family violence, continuous disbursement of social security payments may be used and medical care assistance may be provided by the government to help support low-income families in their day-to-day living, future researchers may use as a resiliency and susceptibility scale as well as triangulation consultation with the experts to increase the validity of the study.
