Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study is entitled "Psychological Distress and Adjustment of Transsexual." Its main objective is to determine the psychological distress and adjustment of transsexuals with regards to self, family, society, religion, and work. There are theories, studies and literature's that served as part of the study. The study was conducted in selected areas in the province of Rizal. The researches involved four (4) male transsexual respondents for the said study. The researches used to descriptive- qualitative method in conducting the study. A researcher made interview question that is content validated by the experts was used as the main instrument to gather data. Based on the data collected from the interview questions and the statements of the transsexuals, it was discovered and concluded that half of the respondent had experience psychological distress and 3 out of 4 respondent had able to cope up with crisis. Some recommendations were made as expected to be beneficial to male transsexuals. After the analysis of the data gathered, the study found out the 3 out of 4 transsexuals decided to undergo sex transplant by their own decision because they believe that they were woman trapped in a man's body. And the the remaining percentage of transsexual decided to undergo transplant because they think it is more socially accepted. Two of the four transsexuals experienced excessive time of sleep and loss of appetite after their undergo sex transplant that caused them to loss their weights and being sluggish most of the time. One of them also chose to isolate and avoid from the other people whom they didn't trust. two of them faced rejections from their immediate family. And because of all these, subjects had low self-esteem. That been concluded that five factor did affect the psychological being of the transsexual. As a revealed by the respondents they underwent different adjustments to cope up with the psychological distress. They usually rationalization in which self-esteem is maintain by assigning plausible and accepted reasons, and sublimation in which they rechannel their desire or motives into socially approved activities and other adjustment mechanism like; keeping their selves busy in business. They pushes to continue their lives despite of facing struggles. Some of them found companions form peers, family and God that helped them to move on, indulging their selves to recreational activities in which helped them to move on, indulging their selves to recreational activities in which helped them out to forget the problem, and one of them suppressed the feeling and most of them accepted what happened that caused them to move on. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that the respondents family and friends should understand, support and accept whatever decision made by the transsexuals. They should be at their side in times of sufferings and difficulties they encounter in their lives. The people in the community should become sensitive on how they mingle with the male transsexuals so that they will continue to their personality and feel that they are part of the society and not be judged for who they are. The College of Science should hold an advocacy program to give a deeper understanding about the life of the transsexuals and how to accept them as of the society. And lastly, the students must conduct and explore deeper study related with the said study. Organization like SMS should sponsor seminars related to the life, experiences and adjustments in the different aspects being done by male transsexual.
