Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop the improvised Pipe Bender. Specifically, this study attempted to determine the level acceptability of the Improvised Pipe Bender in terms of Safety and Maintenance. Usefulness, Durability and Accuracy. The researchers utilized an instrument which is a adopted-modified questionnaire checklist to determine the level of acceptability of the Improvised Pipe Bender. It is validated instrument accomplished by the respondents who provided information for the completion of the study. The results were failed and computed for analysis. There were two groups of respondents who tested the acceptability of the project. The first group consisted of eight (8) experts who had the knowledge, skills and fully understanding on the construction of the Improvised Pipe Bender while other group consisted of twenty (20) second and third year students who are taking up Diploma of Technology and Bachelor of Technology course major in Mechanical Technology at the same University. Qualitative description was used in developing the Improvised Pipe Bender, weighted mean was used in determining the acceptability of the Improvised Pipe Bender and t-test was used in determining its significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups of respondents. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data, the following are hereby summarized. On the design and construction of the Improvised Pipe Bender, the researchers were able to design a well detailed assembly drawing, pictorial drawing, and exploded drawing and construct a Improvised Pipe Bender out of locally available materials. On the level of acceptability of the project in terms of Safety and Maintenance, the experts perceived as extremely accepted with weighted mean of 4.57 and the students perceived the device also as Extremely Acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.5. In terms of usefulness, the experts perceived the device as extremely accepted with weighted mean of 4.5 and the students perceived the device also as Extremely Acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.5. In terms of durability, the experts perceived the device as extremely accepted with weighted mean of 4.7 and the students perceived the device also as Extremely Acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.4. In terms of accuracy, the experts perceived the device as extremely accepted with weighted mean of 4.4 and the students perceived the device also as Extremely Acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.6. On the significant differences made by the experts and the students in terms of the above variables, it was found out that there is no significant difference between the evaluations made by the mechanical and technology experts and students on the acceptability of the Improvised Pipe Bender in terms of five variables, thus the null hypothesis was accepted. Based on the foregoing findings and conclusions the researchers recommended that assistance must be given to students undergoing similar research or study to defray the high cost of materials needed. In addition the device should improved to increase its performance and efficiency.
